Selkirk Incorporation of Hammermen

The Selkirk Incorporation of Hammermen held its Annual General Meeting in the County Hotel on Tuesday 12th April, 2005 with Deacon Rodney Pow in the Chair.
The Meeting was very well attended with almost 60 Members present to hear Deacon Pow, in his remarks, thank all present for their valuable support to him and for the Craft during his term as Deacon of the Incorporation.
He congratulated Malcolm Brownlee on the exemplary manner in which he had carried out his duties as Hammermen Standard Bearer for 2004.
Deacon Pow commented on the successful year for the Incorporation and made special mention of the Crafts strong links with Plattling and of the strong links with craftsmen in the twin town.
Following the Boxmasters, United Crafts, Common Riding Executive and Trust Reports the Meeting moved on to the important part of the evening with the appointment of the Craft Officials for 2005.

The following officers were elected :

Deacon : Cameron Cochrane
At this point newly appointed Deacon, Cameron Cochrane, took the chair of the Meeting and congratulated Rodney Pow for carrying out his duties as Deacon of the Incorporation with such great success.

Clerk : Tommy Knox
Boxmaster : Kevin Fairbairn
Officer : Paul Tomlinson

The most important appointment of the evening was the Election of Euan Hastie as the Selkirk Incorporation of Hammermen Standard Bearer for 2005.
Euan, a joiner to trade - was the unanimous and popular choice for the position of Standard Bearer for 2005.

On accepting the position as Standard Bearer, Euan thanked the Craft for the high honour they had bestowed on him.
He expressed his delight and privilege on being appointed Standard Bearer for 2005 and pledged to carry out his duties to the best of his ability, to the complete satisfaction of the Incorporation and to the high standard of former Craft Standard Bearers.
