The latest goings on in Selkirk.
ON Tuesday 11th April the Selkirk Incorporation of Hammermen held their annual general meeting and appointed office bearers for the year 2006.
This yearís Hammermenís Standard Bearer is Bruce Hastie a self-employed electrician who has the unique distinction of following his brother Ewan into office. Deacon Cameron Cochrane chaired the meeting in the County Hotel which was attended by a record 82 members and the Deacon of the Craft congratulated Standard Bearer Hastie on his appointment.
All other office bearers were elected for a further year of office and at the opening of the meeting Deacon Cochrane asked members to stand in silence in memory of four comrades, Archie Trotter, Colin Watson, Ian Mitchell and Wattie Robertson who had passed away since last year.
This year is the 325th anniversary of the craft and a special dinner is to be held on 22nd September in the Victoria Hall to mark the occasion.
