Fleshers make their choice
SELKIRK Incorporation of Fleshers met in the Town Arms Inn on Friday to hold their annual general meeting and to elect office-bearers for the year 2006.. A good turn-out was present and both the clerk and the box-master reported a successful 2005 Common Riding with special congratulations going to last year’s craft Standard Bearer, Alan McKenzie for the exemplary manner in which he represented the Incorporation of Fleshers.
Arrangements were made for this year’s Common Riding and in particular the Bussin’ Concert in the Victoria Hall on Saturday, 10th June.
The Incorporation of Fleshers had a full turn-out once again for the annual meeting and the most important of jobs was to elect the officials for the current year. Keith Laurie continues as boxmaster and the experienced official has along with him this year a new Deacon in Malcolm Grieve and the craft’s new Standard Bearer for 2006 is Rob Thomson.
It looks like a very musical Common Riding indeed in June as Rob, a former policeman in Lancashire, is the second member of Selkirk Silver Band to carry a flag this year and follows Stuart Kemp of the Merchants into office.
